Can you tell a big Australian red from a complex French Pinot Noir? Can you guess whether the crisp or fruity white is from Europe or down south? Delight and challenge your taste buds!
French à la Carte is delighted to invite you to a unique online blind wine tasting experience to compare French and Australian wines. For this event we have partnered with Bottli, a company founded by French-born, Adelaide-based Nathalie Taquet, delivering the best French and Australian wines from small-scale artisan winemakers: “The goal is for more people to understand what makes a great drop – whether it’s Australian or French – so they’ll never be disappointed with their choice of wine.”
We will taste three grape varieties and for each, one French and one Australian. You will be able to write notes, rate the wines and prepare your best bet on the country of origin. At the end, everything will be revealed! This tasting is for anyone who appreciates wine. Our Sommelier will guide you in French and English!
This workshop will be organized online, via Zoom. Prior to the event, participants will receive a box with six 50ml flasks, each containing a different unlabelled wine, either French or Australian, a leaflet with French vocabulary and a link to connect to the Zoom meeting on the day. During the wine tasting, French sommelier Romain will help you identify which ones are French and which ones are Australian, guiding you through the tasting. And to make it more challenging, the workshop will be held entirely in French!
