French à la Carte offers French classes for adults in Sydney. We have General French and Conversation classes for all levels. We’re located at St Ives (164A Mona Vale Road), and Bayview Golf Club in Mona Vale, on Sydney’s North Shore.  Our teachers are highly qualified native speakers, passionate about French culture and language.

Our French classes follow a coherent approach and teaching philosophy, tailored to the needs of our students.  We emphasize fluency of speaking and understanding rather than rote textbook learning. Courses are run in a very friendly, interactive and challenging atmosphere, conducive to learning.

More than offering just French classes, our school is a social experience. Some of our students have been with us for more than 10 years!

“The lessons at French à la Carte are fabulous with brilliant teachers that bring the flavour of France right into the room while you tackle learning the language in a supportive group. Really enjoyable and every week I look forward to class!”

Jane W.

“I have studied French as a mature adult student at three institutions, two in Australia and one in France. I have found instruction at French à la Carte to be the best of the three. In particular, grammar and more complex vocabulary are clearly explained in both French and English, rather than in French alone. This, is my experience, optimises comprehension, and enables faster learning.”

Richard D.

“One could not find a more enjoyable and effective way to learn the French language….. The excellent native French speaking teachers provide a fun atmosphere for gaining a solid background of French grammar as well as for developing conversation and comprehension skills with a varied and interesting programme… Learning French at FALC for eight years so far has enriched my life in many ways!”

Judy C.

“I love my lessons at French à la Carte! They are stimulating and also fun – we laugh a lot. It’s great learning in such a relaxed and supportive environment and now, after three years, my classmates have become my friends. I hate missing a single class.”

Alison P.

“I have been attending French à la Carte for 5 years. I have never learnt French before and I have really enjoyed FALC’s fun approach balanced between learning new vocabulary and grammar. It has given me the confidence to speak to French people while travelling and to keep improving. I can highly recommend FALC to any aspirational francophone.”

Rik D.

“After attending various French language options in Sydney over a number of years, I came across FALC and am now in my second year there. I really enjoy both the structure & flexibility of our classes. … We do not follow a prescribed text book but rather a programme designed according to our teacher’s assessments of our needs, & often the grammar points just develop out of our conversation of the day. …Importantly, there are a lot of classes which cater for all levels from beginners to fluency…. The school provides a lot of excellent activities over & above normal classes…”

Ceri H.

” I have been attending French à la Carte for several years. Not only is it a place for linguistic learning but also a place where friendships are formed. There is a vibrancy which makes attending classes and the numerous social functions a pleasure to be involved in. The teachers are truly dedicated and passionate about sharing their love of all things ‘françaises’… making it pleasurable to keep coming back for more. “

Junainah L.

” I cannot speak highly enough of French à la Carte. I have been studying with the school for the last 7 years, having started and stopped at other schools before joining FALC. In that time, our class, which is typical of many at FALC, has lost less than one handful of students, due to unavoidable commitments. The rest of us continue to enjoy the whole experience of learning French at the school. “
